Belize...

...is just south of Mexico and has a long Carribbean coastline.  Ancient Mayan ruins, river boat rides through the jungle, beautiful islands, and scuba diving with thousands of species of sea-life along the barrier reef all await us in tropical Belize.

We'll make our way by bus from northern Guatemala into Belize around the fourth of July - not a typical way to celebrate Independence Day.  We'll spend half the week inland seeing the jungles, ruins, the Belize Zoo, and perhaps hiking or exploring some caves.  Then we'll take a boat out to Ambergris Caye (Island) where we'll take it easy.  Snorkeling and scuba diving will be a daily activity.

                                 Then we return by bus and train to Guatemala City to say good-bye to Don's parents and brother.
